Alisha Mays, JD | Supervising Attorney & Client Manager
Alisha Mays is an attorney who currently serves as client manager to one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the country. Ms. Mays also supervises a team of attorneys and is experienced in appealing insurance claims denied for medical necessity and lack of authorization, as well as resolving inter-plan disputes.
Prior to joining SHP, Ms. Mays worked in the Ethics and Compliance Office of a South Florida hospital. In that capacity, she researched hospital-specific compliance issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA and EMTALA. She also monitored legislative updates related to telemedicine. Prior to that, Ms. Mays was a Student Attorney with Florida International University College of Law Health Law and Policy Clinic. In this role, she was responsible for advocating on behalf of indigent clients in the community on various issues, including access to healthcare and resolution of medical debt.
