Ana Peñalba, JD | Supervising Attorney of Clinical Audit Services
AnaCristian Peñalba is a healthcare attorney with a focus on legal and regulatory issues related to hospital revenue cycle management for multiple hospital systems and long term acute care hospitals. As part of the Clinical Audit Services Team, she also works to resolve a variety of complex insurance issues including experimental and investigational denials, medical necessity denials, Zone Program Integrity Contractor (“ZPIC”) audits, and pre-arbitration/litigation claim review while managing a team of nurses and attorneys.
Prior to joining SHP, Ms. Peñalba graduated from St. Louis University School of Law with a Health Law Concentration. While attending law school, she worked in the General Counsel’s Office of a Missouri healthcare system. In that capacity, she researched hospital-specific compliance issues related to outpatient dialysis, multi-state utilization review licensure requirements, and fraud and abuse training requirements. She also reviewed contracts regarding accountable care organizations (“ACOs”) and physician group practice acquisitions.
